ALEXANDER TECHNIQUE, YOGA & TOLLE What is common to the teachings of F.M. Alexander, the ancient Yogis of India and Eckhart Tolle? The importance of consciously being and coming back to the Present Moment as a way to live life the best we can. Tolle offers Gratitude as a portal to the present moment in the quote of the day below. FM uses Awareness of Use in action or at rest. Most meditation teachers starting with the ancient Yogis of India offer Breath Awareness as a main tool for reconnecting and staying in the Now. “It is through gratitude for the present moment that the spiritual dimension of life opens up.” Eckhart Tolle Breath and Gratitude are pretty straightforward for most people on the spiritual path. Awareness of Use however is still a foreign concept for most. Even yoga practitioners who may be more aware than others are often missing this type of awareness because they focus endlessly on their yoga form and the foundation of yoga before they have an awareness of the foundation of natural movement as it applies on & off the mat. As a result, they bring to the mat their daily harmful habitual patterns which corrupt their yoga from the start. Consequently, they are building Body Stiffness at the same time they are focusing on building their Body Strength. With some Alexander Technique learning, you multiply your opportunities to be in the present moment which is an amazing tool to further your yoga practice and your spiritual growth.
