ALICANTE GROUP WEATHER UPDATE Monday 17th November 2014: Good morning everyone......rise and shine!!!.......Yes, its a new day, its a new dawn, its a new week......but you should be feeling fine as that sun bursts forth yet again cheering you all up!!!......What can I say......limited cloud about with limited winds and moderate temperatures reaching out towards the 20s in places!!!......Who would believe that we are in November???.......The week ahead is looking to retain that sunshine although with more cloud about but that risk of showers from Wednesday onwards is getting less and less!!!......As it stands, and as we peruse those crystal balls gazing into the future that is your weather, we are looking at late Sunday for our next measurable rainfall!!!.....Beyond that, next week is looking unsettled so we will continue to watch for anything that might be a threat and if we see it coming well shout it out!!!........So, with time on our hands lets talk about some weather fables in that take the form of how to predict!!!..........Did you know the higher the humidity, the better sound travels???........ Some people gauge the chances of rain by the clarity with which they hear the church bells sound!!!.........Did you know Cicadas, those creatures that cause loud buzzing noises in trees by vibrating their wings (main picture), cant make that buzzing noise when the humidity is very high, so may be silent when rain is approaching. Also, flying insects are more active when the air pressure drops and stay closer to the ground, so they seem to be swarming before a rain storm!!!......And finally, the chirping of a cricket has been shown to provide a close indication of air temperature. By counting the number of cricket chirps in a 14-second period and adding 40, the total will equal the air temperature to within one degree 75% of the time.......Now go forth and impress folk with your knowledge!!!......Have a great day and enjoy the sunshine........Jim Fraser for your EiALERT NETWORK!!! :)
