ALICANTE GROUP WEATHER UPDATE Saturday 1st November 2014: Good morning everyone!!!......I hope you all survived the living dead last night and are ready for some serious weather forecasting???.......Today we again maintain that sun but that cloud level will be visible in places albeit relatively light and fluffy. However, along some of the coast it could be a clear bright day!!!......You may care to note that we did, as forecast weeks ago right here on the EiA, make it through to the end of the month with mainly sunshine but as of tomorrow we have risk of showers!!!.....Yes, under that dark matter mañana we could get some rain fall as a prelude to expected heavy rain later in the week in some areas!!!.......That wind today is again to be rather gusty in the mountains and our temperatures start to decline from tonight........Now lets just talk temperatures before we move on!!!......Today, as an example, we are expecting temperatures up in the warm degrees range.....you know?.......low to Mid 20s!!!......Nighttime temperatures will be modestly lower but comfortable with it.........However, come Wednesday/Thursday next week you can cut most of those daytime temperatures in half and at night we are looking a mere 5 degrees in such places as Alcoy, and Alicante Itself could see a very chilly 10 degrees if were lucky.......so, break out the winter warmers, light the fires and kick the tyres.......a snap of winter doth cometh!!!.......And as we proceed through Monday that cloud continues to come and go, risk of rain comes and goes with that cloud but we are currently looking at an early EiA UNOFFICIAL WARNING FOR POTENTIALLY HEAVY RAIN for TUESDAY for much of Alicante as a substantial cold front pushes cold Arctic air down across the Iberian Peninsular and into, of all places, North Africa!!!......Yes, its rather bazaar this coming weather and out of the ordinary so we need to be vigilant as there is little precedence set for what we have coming in weather models!!!.....Our main graphic today is from a forecast model, shows the green cold air pushing down into the south of Spain, but more Importantly, it shows low pressure systems north of the UK that rotate anti-clockwise and if you follow those white lines, referred to as isobars, from Spain upwards they indicate that our winds come from a very chilly land!!!......On the other hand, out in the Atlantic we have a big red blob of warm air.....this is our Azores High pressure system and if anything, normally our friend and guardian against bad weather. This is rotating clockwise pushing lovely warm Mid-Atlantic air against that cold air and this is what makes me believe we have reason to give warning......By late Wednesday this cold drip looking affair will be pushing east and receding and come Thursday we should get our Mojo back and those temperatures should be recover slightly......but not for long!!!......More showers expected next weekend but lets wait and see nearer the time!!!.....So, as it stands we need to maintain a vigilance from midnight Monday/Tuesday, watch for official warnings and maintain a watch as we approach the time of anticipated rain!!!.......Have a great day and a safe one!!!.....Jim Fraser for the EiALERT NETWORK!!! :)
