He was not a bigamist, times were harsh and weather was unbearable, he outlived 4 of his wives. They died of natural causes and yes he married two sets of sisters. ================ It always makes me sad to see incomplete headstones because, in many cases, that is the only remaining record of a persons life. So after a little research, I have found some info on the Roach family: Alice Farish married Thomas J in 1845, had 5 chidren and died in 1861. Then he married Alices sister Sallie in 1862. Both these marriages were in Virginia. In February 1865, Thomas married Mary Josephine Broome in Cherokee Co Texas. They had 2 children. Then after her death, he married Kate Bobbitt on 11/30/1877 and had 3 more chidren. She was the ony wife to outlive him, but she was 27 years younger then him.
