ALL IS LOST for solo traveler Robert Redford when his yacht collides with sea trash and he fights to stay afloat in a raging storm. Dont expect the IMAX grandeur or life-affirming spirituality of recent one-man survival films GRAVITY or LIFE OF PI here. Instead, writer-director JC Chandor (MARGIN CALL) designs this ordeal as a Baby Boomer existential crisis... a metaphor for the way so many seniors were unmoored by the 2008 financial collapse. The lack of dialogue or supporting characters makes this a challenging sit, but its hard not to be impressed with the way a 76-year-old Hollywood legend casts aside his vanity and commits body and soul to a dance with death.
