ALLAHABAD DURGA PUJA SAMITI SUCCEED AT LAST ******************************************************************** Allahabad, 20th, September, 2014. It was a red letter day for the Allahabad Durga Puja Samiti, who stood like a rock against the Allahabad district administration’s unwanted decision to hold immersion of the Durga Puja idols, in the filthy and dirty ponds of the village, when the hon’ble Allahabad High Court endorsed the decision of the district administration to implement the Guideline of the Central Pollution Control Board for the idol immersion. It may be recalled that the ADPS and Bengali Welfare Association have submitted the said guideline to the district administration, in the 12th August, 14, along with a letter, requested them to follow the guidelines of the CPCB, but the district administration, deliberately ignored the said guidelines, instead they identified four dirty ponds of the villages of the district for the immersion of the idols of Maa Durga , which was vehemently criticized by the Samiti members, through their press note. On last Sunday, a team of Samiti members made a visit to the two ponds, situated in the village Aandhwa and Dhanua and made several photographs of the dirty ponds and bad shape road, the team also collected the filthy water to produce before the Hon’ble court. The hearing of the Modification application was scheduled for 18th September,14 which was also mentioned by the district administration’s standing counsel and as well by the counselor petitioner, but was deferred by the standing counsel. But, a press release of the Samiti, appeared in the Hindi Dailies, Amar Ujala, on last 18th September 14, in which we have stated that the Samiti counsel to put the real picture of the pity conditions of the ponds, road and water, before the Hon’ble court, have compelled the district administration in the back foot and suddenly before the lunch break of the court,on 18th Sept.14, they change their mind to adopt the CPCB’s guidelines, which they have placed before the court. on 19th September 14 and came with all home work, which was, later on, endorsed by the hon’ble court for the implementation of the guidelines of the CPCB, which we were asking the district administration from quite long time. The district administration have agreed to create an artificial pond, near to the Ganga river, where the Ganga Aarti is being performed every evening. The district Magistrate, while talking to the Chief Advisor of the Samiti, Dr. P.K.Roy, stated that the district administration is going to hold a meeting with Samiti members and the office bearers of the Durga puja Barwari, very soon.
