ALLAHABAD: The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) examination was conducted successfully at numerous centres in the city on Sunday. About 36.3% candidates appeared in the examination which was conducted at Allahabad and Chandigarh. There was heavy crowding of the candidates at Allahabad railway junction as they set out to return to their native places after appearing in the examination. Talking to TOI, RRB chairman Sanjeev Mathur said about 17,940 candidates appeared in the first meeting of the examination in which 46,656 candidates were expected to participate. In the second meeting, about 17,166 candidates appeared in the examination out of the 46,656 candidates. Meanwhile, 11,224 candidates appeared at Chandigarh out of the total 35,136 candidates. The written examination is being conducted for selecting candidates on the vacant posts of commercial clerk, accounts clerk, ticket examiner, junior clerk and train clerk. There was heavy rush at the numerous examination centres right from the morning. Some of the candidates faced problems in going to centres which are located in the far-flung areas. This examination is being conducted in three phases. The second phase and third phase of the examination will be conducted on September 22 and October 6. Railway administration has made arrangements for ferrying the candidates. In this connection, two extra general coaches were attached to train number 12403/12404 Allahabad-Mathura Express and train number 11107/11108 Gwalior-Varanasi Bundelkhand Express.
