ALOLA PROVIDE TRAINING TO WOMEN IN LAUALA VILLAGE - ERMERA. Poverty is a word that is so complicated to find a way out. This condition also has triggered a variety of other problems, one of which domestic violence. Factors that appear weak family economy in the absence of sufficient income to meet the needs of the family became one of the causes of conflict in the household. As a result, many women and children living role in the threat of domestic violence, both physical and non-physical. They are vulnerable to become victims of domestic violence and required a concerted effort from both government and society in the handle, either by increasing the participation of women in economic activities through training, one training was recently conducted by Fundasaun Alola (Alola Foundation) As a womens organization, has become a major goal of the various activities that have been executed by the Alola Fundasaun, Timorese women to be able to realize strong so that it can contribute to the development of the State. During this run various programs, ranging from programs for maternal and child health programs to provide reinforcement for women political sector. Since the founding, has tens of thousands of people to benefit from these programs, many changes occurred in the fall of society one overlying and infant mortality. For about 4 days, work teams of the Alola Fundasaun Economic Empowerment Programs and Advocacy program held training for vulnerable women in Lauala village, Ermera District. During training was officially opened by Lauala village chief , they get a variety of information about human rights, gender and also about the financial management is facilitated directly by the working team of Fundasaun Alola. This training activity itself is one of the advanced programs for improving womens economic in preventing and reducing the occurrence of violence against women. The same program previously implemented in other districts, especially districts are located near the border as Covalima, Bobonaro and Oecusse. All three districts have been selected because it has a high level of threat on gender-based violence, including human trafficking. Agapito de Deus as Lauala village chief, in his speech expressed his appreciation to Fundasaun Alola Village for the first time since Lauala get training like this. He also asked the women who participated in the training to focus during training and courage in delivering the problems faced. When we get a good judgment of all people must be the name of the village Lauala, for that we have to keep going forward, said Agapito de Deus. Lauala village, a village which depend economic life of coffee beans consists of 3 sub-villages (aldeias) are to each other farther apart enough. Coffee farming is one of the main livelihood relied provide for the family in addition to other work. But will they get the revenue after the coffee harvest starts and three months thereafter. Afterwards locals will rely on income from other activities such as planting vegetables or kiosks. Other conditions that locals are also facing problems of education, health and clean water. Jose Ximenes as Economic Empowerment Programme Manager at the closing of the training Fundasaun Alola said during training, Lauala village women who were 30 decided to form a savings group called Moris Foun (New Life) in order to facilitate them in starting economic activity in Lauala village. Jose also added that Fundasaun Alola through existing field staff in Ermera District will continue to monitor the newly established group in addition to the direct supervision of the village and the relevant agencies. Economic Empowerment Programme Manager is also hoped that this training could be a model for other groups in Ermera district. On the other hand Sergio E.B. Deus of the Ministry of Social Solidarity (MSS-DNRS) in Ermera district on the sidelines of the closing of the training request to all members of a group to use money in a responsible manner in order to achieve what the objectives and set a good example and pave the way for other women.
