ALS foundation admit they only donate 27% of funds to research. I am happy the ice bucket challenge is raising awareness of ALS, but you have the choice to donate directly to institutions too. For example the incredible Nicholas James Cole is a researcher at the Macquarie University Motor Neurone Disease Research Centre and ALS is one of the diseases they study. They have their own donation page as do many other research labs which dont have the high overheads that the big organisations do.
