ALUMNI! A couple of years ago, Robbie was a bedraggled stray on the streets of Philadelphia, with massive mange and open wounds that were infested with maggots. He was a senior citizen on the tail end of a long and sad journey. Upon arrival at Animal Alliance of New Jersey, his wounds were repaired and the maggots removed (it took hours), and he began a lengthy recovery, becoming a staff favorite. A month later, . . . . . Robbie was picked by one of Lambertvilles most fashionable and generous couples -- they could have adopted any dog, but chose the (then) broken down, super skinny dog with bald patches and wounds all over. We said goodbye to him on adoption day as he climbed into a sleek Mercedes and drove off to a magical life. Continuing his rags to riches story, Robbie is now regularly groomed to perfection, his chronic ear problems meticulously attended to, his recurrent mange treated, and he is fed the best diet. He lounges poolside, he rides around town in the car with his mom, and sleeps on the couch, not a dog bed. Along the way, his adopters have become enormous supporters of Animal Alliance, holding fundraisers at their restaurant DeAnnas Restaurant, doing hands on work to help other animals, and raising awareness about pet adoption among their restaurant customers, friends, and family.
