ALWAYS A LION I remember the 2007 world cup when Greg Chapel was the coach of the Indian Cricket Team. How bad the team performed in that tournament. The team which was expected to win the tournament couldn’t even qualify for the super eight. Even the Bangladesh team defeated the Indian team. The story begins, prior to that, from the Zimbabwe tour, when Greg Chapel wanted to cut the wings of skipper Saurav Ganguly. That time Dravid came to perform as the Vibhishan of the team, joined Greg’s conspiracy and ultimately made Saurav Ganguly out from the team. It was the fighting spirit of Dada that he did not surrender and continued his fight against Greg. After the world cup 2007, Sachin too came to speak against Greg Chapel and the BCCI decided in the favour of team with the ouster of Greg. Soon Dravid realised that he was being cornered by his team mates and finally he gave up the captaincy. By this time, Yuvraj Singh was the superstar of Indian Cricket Team and Mahendra Singh Dhoni was emerging as a rising Sun. Tendulkar adjudged Dhoni fit to lead the Indian Cricket Team without the senior players, the Pandavas - Sachin, Ganguly, Dravid, Laxman and Kumble - in the 2007 T-20 world cup. He won the tournament. Since then he took the Indian Cricket to a great height, be it test, one-day or T-20. Thanks Dhoni. Dhoni was then the king of Indian Cricket until the IPL 2014 which witnessed Delhi- Mumbai rivalry, actually IPL-ICL rivalry, truly speaking Gavaskar-Kapil rivalry, at extreme, in which the SC-via-Mudgal Committee had to intervene and this time scapegoat chosen is Dhoni. Has SC ever enquired about Daud’s role in the Indian Cricket? Has SC ever enquired Sharad Pawar’s link with D-company? Has SC ever enquired why Mumbaikars, like Gavaskar, Shastri and Tenulkar are so powerful in influencing Indian Cricket and not Kapil and Mohinder Amarnath, who won for us the 1983 World Cup? Are these Mumbaikars not the part and parcel of the D-company’s hierarchy? This time to cut the wings of Dhoni Virat has been chosen to perform the role of Vibhishan whereas Ravi Shastri is performing as Greg. Sunil Gavaskar, Guru of Shastri, is a silent spectator. Anyway, to perform in one-dayers and in T-20, Dhoni had to retire from the test format. But, we the cricket crazies wanted to give Dhoni a grand farewell, in the field and wanted to see him getting grand farewell in the country, in a decent manner, which we couldn’t. The man who restored honour to Ganguly, Kumble and Sachin, in the field, on their retirement, who restored respect to the Indian Cricket, who entertained billions of cricket lovers throughout the world including Pakistan Prez Parwez Musharraf for the last ten-twelve years, who fetched crowd in the stadiums to see his helicopter shots has to give up his white uniform in a queer manner. It is a shame on us. I have seen him fighting with Sehwag, Yuvi, Gambhir, Irfan Pathan, Bhajji, Zaheer and many more Vibhishans, all in the influence of Delhi Cricket, who for their captaincy, wanted to let him down. At all occasions he came to be victorious. This time he surrendered. Most probably he has been stabbed from behind by a man whom he trusted the most, may be by Shastri, one of his God-fathers.
