AMAZING GOD God is doing something in Co Donegal, I dont know exactly what that is, but something is up. Shortly after arriving here over a year and a half ago I was invited to a prayer meeting in Letterkenny. The man who invited me is not a pastor and used to attend our church several years ago. He simply asked me to go to a prayer meeting with some local pastors so I went. When I arrived I discovered there were about 15-18 pastors meeting every month for prayer from the Church of Ireland, Presbyterian, Reformed Presbyterian, Charismatic, Baptist, and Independent churches along with a few from missions organizations. If I had been asked to attend a meeting and known beforehand the churches involved I would have likely NOT attended because of my prejudice against old line, traditional, organization and somewhat dead churches. Dont think I am being overly critical in my analysis of some churches because the pastors from these organizations openly state their denominations are spiritually dead or dying, and that they are anomalies in that they embrace the true gospel, the Holy Spirit, and have vision for revival and a move of God. I was saved in a pentecostal church in Sacramento California and was part of a charismatic church in Woodland for my formative years as a Christian, so that culture is very familiar to me. Sunday night we were invited to a meeting at a local hotel conducted by a relative of someone in our church. This person has recently returned from the mission field and felt God wanted him to hold this meeting. It was a pentecostal type meeting with charismatics attending but there were also some Presbyterians involved. We are holding a series of meetings at our church which involves a pretty even spread of Presbyterians, Church of Ireland, Methodist, and our group. As I have stated before, the meetings are for the equipping of the saints to do the work of the ministry. I find myself in this sandwich situation where I feel comfortable with both groups and can identify with them. I have friends in both groups and God is working in the hearts of people all across the lines of denominationalism and non-denominationalism. It is absolutely amazing to see what God is doing. Sunday morning I taught about being filled, and I mean really filled, with the Holy Spirit. This teaching focused on the river of God, the rain of the Holy Spirit, the oil, the wine and how the Bible uses different images and types to speak of the Holy Spirit. When we attended the meeting Sunday night he preached on being filled with the Holy Spirit and focused on the river of God. I loved one point in particular. There is a river running right through Donegal Town and he asked if anyone goes to the banks of the river and pray that the river will flow. NO! The river just flows and we dont have to go every day to ask it to flow, but we do have to remove all the debris and obstacles that hinders the flow of the river. I think that might be the focus of God in our community right now! Getting His people to remove the obstacles so He can flood our county! When He moves it will be beyond our capacity to understand or contain and we MUST be ready for the rain and the runoff. Its beginning to rain here in the spiritual realm......
