. AMBER VINSON, THE SECOND DALLAS NURSE TREATED FOR EBOLA, IS VIRUS-FREE AND HEADS HOME TODAY. The second nurse to contract Ebola in the U.S. is free of the VIRUS and will be released from Emory University Hospital on Tuesday. Amber Vinson, 29, contracted the virus after treating Thomas Eric Duncan in Dallas. The virus has been undetectable in Vinson’s body since October 21. Both Vinson and the other nurse, Nina Pham, are now free of the virus. Vinson’s case initially stirred fears that Ebola would spread after it was revealed she flew back-and-forth from Ohio with a slight fever after treating Duncan. Her family says she cleared her flight with the hospital three times before departing.
