AMBITION vs. EDUCATION I got started as a kid with no - TopicsExpress

AMBITION vs. EDUCATION I got started as a kid with no highschool degree, no college diploma, no resume, no money, living in a 250sf studio, searching couch cushions for change for coffee, no car, walking to work in the rain, and was a misfit troublemaker ex-skateboarding punk kid from Santa Cruz, CA who most people had written off early on. I didnt have your traditional advantages. But what I did have was even greater. AMBITION. I was driven, even at a very young age, to want to live life to the fullest. I spent my time focused on acquiring KNOWLEDGE from un-traditional sources to help me to achieve the above-average results I was chasing. Now, first of all I must say that I am a FAN of EDUCATION! I hear a lot of people rip on the school system, and how much waste of money a college education is, but the truth is that MOST millionaires in the United States have college degrees, so its really a dead end argument if you ask me. That being said, I dont think a college degree is what makes the difference. I believe AMBITION makes the difference. I went about gathering my knowledge in a different way than the traditional path. For example, I would walk a mile and a half down to the local library, then wait in line to use the public computers and internet, and when it was my turn I could use it for 20 minutes at a time. During those 20 minutes I would research as much as possible, learning different things that I felt would help me achieve the goals I had set for myself, and learning about Internet Marketing through various blogs and websites. Then, when the bell was tapped, I would look up to see who I had to give up my spot too. Most of the time it was someone who was homeless. (Keep in mind this was the public library downtown Santa Cruz, CA). Its crazy looking back on those days, to think thats where I got my start. Using the internet at the public library, sharing it with homeless people, in 20 minute increments. But to me it didnt matter, because I was fueled by my AMBITION! Then, as time went on I got a little smarter. I realized that I could catch the bus across town. to the local junior college, and they had a library as well. You didnt even have to be a student. Nobody checked at the door. I could just walk in and use one of the many computers they had in the library, for free, for hours at a time! I felt like I had hit the jackpot! So I would literally spend my days there, not even enrolled as a student, just posting up and putting in many hours towards studying other successful internet marketers, website designers, search engine optimizers, network marketers, you name it! I was convinced that online marketing was the future, and my AMBITION drove me to figure it out. To learn that craft. And to one day become a master of it. You see, I may not have been the student IN the class, being taught by a professional teacher. But I was still THERE, in the library, getting self-taught on the internet. I wasnt sure where that path would lead me, but I was craving the knowledge. And I trusted in the process. And I was lead by my ambition. So look, the main point of my story is this. My AMBITION is what drove me to do things that others thought were crazy. Like sharing computers with homeless people at the library, or walking miles in the rain to get there, when I didnt even have money to afford coffee at the time. Or catching public busses across town. to the local junior college, and spending hours out of the day there, teaching myself strategies that I didnt even fully understand at the time, but I trusted in the process. So many random stories along the journey, and so many more that keep happening every single month. It was that AMBITION that drove me early on, to learn what I needed to learn, and to Take Massive Action on that information to get to the next level of the game.
