AMEACHI DECLARES WAR ON NEW RIVERS STATE CP Following recent promotions and retirements in the Nigerian Police force which led to vacancies in the force, the Acting Inspector General of Police, Suleiman Abba appointed new Commissioners of Police for 21 states of the federation. Barely a week after these appointments, Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi is set for another battle with the new state commissioner of police, Dan Bature, whom he has already accused of being planted by a top political party. As other state governors are welcoming their new states commissioners and promising to work assiduously with the new police boss posted to their different states, Governor Ameachi has chosen the path of war with the Rivers State commissioner who is yet to fully settle down. We remember how past Rivers State CP, Joseph Mbu, was redeployed after Governor Ameachi labeled him a politician in police uniform because he refused to bow to his commands and now he is against the new commissioner posted to River state. Does Ameachi ever want professional policing in Rivers State? Should Ameachi control Rivers state and the Nigeria Police Force at the same time?
