AMERICAN BULLY ORIGIN The American Bully breed was established in the beginning of the 1990s with the purpose of creating the ultimate family companion & the world’s best friend. The American Bully was created through years of selective breeding by combining the desired traits of the American Pit Bull Terrier and the American Staffordshire terrier. Some lines have added other bully breeds into the mix. The American Bullys origins can be seen both on the East and West Coast of the United States, primarily in Virginia, and Los Angeles, California and is spreading to all parts of the US. Today the American Bully can also be seen, in Europe, Africa and Asia. It is often confused with the American Pit-bull Terrier but is clearly a different breed. The Establishment & Temperament Of American Bullys The establishment of todays American Bully and the breeds early fundamental development began in the 1990s via the efforts of several dedicated breeders and their vision and goals of creating the ultimate family companion. The American Bully breed evolved only through careful and selective breeding of various bull breeds in a program designed to place an emphasis on maintaining a loyal, devoted and steadfast temperament, while enhancing desired physical characteristics. As a breed, the American Bully is celebrated for its exceptional loyalty and devotion to its family members. The ideal temperament of an American Bully is very stable, dedicated, confident and is that of an exceptional family companion. The ideal American Bully thrives on pleasing its owners is highly intelligent, very trainable and capable of performing many tasks and posses diverse abilities. The modern American Bully can be seen today excelling in many areas of society. Physically, the perfect American Bully is athletic, yet powerfully built. The American Bully has a solid, well defined muscular frame that gives the impression of massive strength as well as athletic ability. Males are characteristically stockier and heavier boned than females. Their life span is between 12 and 14 years. Height: Females 17 - 20 inches (43 - 51 cm.) Weight 70 - 120 pounds (31 - 54 kg.) There is 5 categories of the American Bully—Standard, Pocket, XL, Extreme and Classic. Weight and height vary greatly and is not consider important, however correct proportion of weight to height is. EXERCISE Just like all breeds of dogs they must get frequently exercised to help release their mental and physical energy however Bullies are happy to chill on the couch – this all helps to create a well balanced and happy Bully. GROOMING There short haired coat is extremely easy to groom, using a firm bristled brush on a regular basis and shampooing when necessary, the American bully is an average shedding breed. LIVING CONDITIONS American Bullies prefer a warm climate due to their short hair; they will do fine in an apartment as long as they are exercised on a daily basis
