AMOS 3:1-8 1 Hear this word that the LORD hath spoken against - TopicsExpress

AMOS 3:1-8 1 Hear this word that the LORD hath spoken against you, O children of Israel, against the whole family which I brought up from the land of Egypt, saying, 2 You only have I known of all the families of the earth: therefore I will punish you for all your iniquities. 3 Can two walk together, except they be agreed? 4 Will a lion roar in the forest, when he hath no prey? will a young lion cry out of his den, if he have taken nothing? 5 Can a bird fall in a snare upon the earth, where no gin is for him? shall one take up a snare from the earth, and have taken nothing at all? 6 Shall a trumpet be blown in the city, and the people not be afraid? shall there be evil in a city, and the LORD hath not done it? 7 Surely the Lord GOD will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets. 8 The lion hath roared, who will not fear? the Lord GOD hath spoken, who can but prophesy? God is telling His people that they need to be in full agreement, to truly walk with Him. Amos is dealing here with a very troubled Israel, and he reminds them of the importance of a relationship with God. God is essentially telling them, “I have some things to say.” It was because they had not walked in agreement, to be made aware of what He would instruct them in. If you are fully persuaded in your heart toward all that God has to say, it will be harder to allow a separation from Him. Persuaded of Salvation! Saved from destruction. We are our own worst enemy! Our ideas, thoughts, and wisdom are not of God’s. We must see that there is only one who can help us, ..God! He will save us from ourselves! Can we really walk together with God, if in disagreement, in one part? Not just agreeing sometimes, but fully. If we are promised to “each other” (as if an engaged couple) we will be walking together. When God saves us from destruction, we are then promised and spiritually “married” to Him. God needs us to be a holy example, so the world might see Him, through our life of agreement. Satan needs to see and know, by all our strength and mind, that we are in full agreement ..in our walk with God. Are you truly walking with God?
