AMOSUN MUST GO COFFIN TO BE SEALED ON FRIDAY 9TH JANUARY 2015 In what may be the final sealing of Governor Ibikunle Amosun’s Second term ambition coffin, the Social Democratic Party (SDP) are now set to announce Dimeji Bankole as its candidate for the 2015 Ogun State gubernatorial election. In what is a like for like composition, the SDP are to line an Ogun Central and Ogun East son on its joint ticket for the February election. Political onlookers have previously speculated that the emergence of Bankole in the SDP will further split Amosun’s chances of a wide majority in Ogun Central with Akinrogun Osoba’s own influence in the zone added to the mix. It is now expected that Ogun Central will be dissected from the middle between Amosun, Osoba and Bankole. With Ogun West certain to deliver majority votes to the candidate of the PDP, Gboyega Isiaka, it is expected that the citizens of Ogun East will be the deciding factor at this election. Feelers from the field in Ogun East suggest that it is firmly in opposition hold and very unlikely that the incumbent, Governor Ibikunle Amosun will win enough there to see him reelected. A Commissioner in Amosun’s cabinet told Ilese News Extra over the phone from Abeokuta this afternoon that it was the worst possible scenario they feared and that it will now be even more difficult for his boss. He went on to say that the battle ground at this election will be in the Ogun East senatorial zone and that whoever wins majority there will go ahead and win the election. The Commissioner was quoted as saying “Friday may confirm our worst fears and it would be written in history as the day the governorship battle was decided even before a vote was cast, we are optimistic however of victory but it will be very difficult for oga if Bankole is confirmed as the candidate of the SDP” Should Dimeji Bankole be announced as the SDP candidate on Friday, Ilese News Extra will be confident enough to make a prediction that the incumbent will definitely not be returned to Oke-Mosan.
