AMPOSAH ENDS POPA UNBEATEN RUN Police X1s Ghanaian international, Ishmael Amposah, arrested the stubborn Mapalastina alone, as he scored a brace in a be Mobile league game played in Molepolole on January 17. Rollers finished the first round of the league unbeaten, and Police was the first team to shock both Township Rollers supporters and the technical team. The game started with Rollers dominating and dictating terms as they moved forward searching for an early goal. In the 11th minute of the game Rollers captain, Maano Ditshupo managed to open the score board to put his side in the lead. The goal seemed to have motivated Mapalastina as they continued to make good runs, and on the 13th minute they were awarded a free kick which was wasted by Motsholetsi Sikele. However, as the game progressed, Police XI woke up from their slumber and managed to compact their defence, denying Rollers to do as they wished in their defence, the plan which seemed to have worked for them. The game went into half time with Rollers leading with one goal. After the break, Police came back with a “no retreat, no surrender” attitude, and in the 55th minute Police could have leveled the score, but Gilbert Baruti decided to squander the golden opportunity after Rollers goalkeeper Mwampule Masule committed an error inside the box. Police X1 continued to pile pressure on Mapalastina, but they were let down by poor finishing techniques inside the box. In the 61th minute Rollers coach, Madinda Ndlovu made a double substitution by introducing Sekhana Koko and Edwin Moalosi, pulling out Kobamelo Kebaikanye and Sikele. Hardly 10 minutes after the substitution, Amposah equalised after Masule failed to clear an easy ball, making it 1-1. As Rollers players and supporters were still shocked, Amposah scored a cracker in the 75th minute, making it 2-1 Immediately after the goal, Police decided to increase the pace of the game, and Rollers fitness level was highly exposed since fatigue took its toll. The game ended 2-1 and after the game Rollers coach Ndlovu said his side created a lot of chances which they failed to utilise. “If you don’t use your chances, you get punished, Police capitalised on their chances and we should accept defeat, Police player scored a beautiful winning goal,” he said…. #his_excellency
