AN ANGRY RANT by Mr C Okay, I know its Sunday. A day of rest and meditation. A giving of thanks for all the things that the good Lord has given you. However, I must shake it up a bit and for that I apologize. Last night after a really nice time with my relatives from Stafford, Virginia, I stopped in Springfield to support a new friend. This friend and I are working on a plan that we cant disclose yet. Safe to say it will bring opportunities for the young people in the Northern Virginia Area. So...I stay to watch a couple bands play. The final band takes forever to set up. They are obviously confused and out of sorts. They finally start their set. Its obvious that one member is drunk off his a.. His instrument sounded horrible, he was wobbling on stage, he was hitting notes that dont exist in any musical system I know of...and he was disturbing to watch. I, being the shy kind soul I am, approached the sound man and begged him to fix the confused souls rig. Surprisingly, he agreed. I was in a situation where I didnt know anyone beyond my friend. I could have been roughed up for my actions...hmmm depends...never mind! Well...the musician became verbally abusive and nasty on-stage. After a full 8 minutes in front of the people there he surrendered and the sound was markedly improved. I was stunned that this person and his band would treat this event, which was a benefit, with such disrespect and utter contempt. The other band members did not act to stop his unbelievably ridiculous behavior and actually they seemed afraid to do so. Let me be frank. If you are a musician and you find it necessary to be onstage drunk do me a favor and jump off a cliff. Are you serious?? Do you think its cool to play f-ed-up, super-high-cool rockstar and then proceed to destroy your bands set??? Do you like looking like a complete idiot in front of everyone? Do you get satisfaction from your drunk friends who make things worse by enabling your disgusting juvenile 1970s behavior? I think you need to take your instrument and place it firmly where the sun dont shine and never play again. You owe it to the Gods of music to sell all your equipment and never come near a stage again. Finally, you my man need to apologize to my friend who is one of the most easy going and kind hearted dudes Ive met. He truly was hurt by your childish actions. And he was ripped apart by the venue operator in front of me. Talk about awkward. By the way, your band brought nothing in the way of a crowd in to see you. Wow... what a shock. Have a nice day everyone and I hope you young musicians understand that CLARITY OF MIND SOUL AND BODY are what make great performances. Its not cool to be a d bag on stage...not even a little. [Sorry if I was a bit strong parents but sometimes you have to tell it like it is or your kids could get involved with one of these has been clowns (and there are many around) who will lead them on the road to disaster.]
