AN APPEAL FROM ZAMBOANGA CITY MAYOR BENG CLIMACO, CHAIRMAN OF THE CRISIS MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE Date: September 11, 2013 Zamboanga City Mayor Beng Climaco-Salazar, in an interview, appeals to MNLF Misuari faction to release all hostages. She says MNLF should air grievances with Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process (OPAPP), not with the city of Zamboanga. PUBLIC ADVISORY The management of the Zamboanga City Electric Cooperative (ZAMCELCO) announced that they will be open today to accept payment of electric bills. Due date which falls last Monday and Tuesday will be accepted without penalties. Commanding General of Philippine Coast Guard Lt. Junior Grade Joemark Angue said commercial boat trips to Basilan and other neighboring provinces are still suspended except for cargo vessels. CEB Advisory: Flights to and from Zamboanga Sep 9 (2 days ago) Due to the current security situation in Zamboanga, CEB has cancelled flight 5J 840 Tawi-Tawi to Zamboanga this morning. The rest of the flight to and from Zamboanga today have been put on hold. CEB passengers with flights to and from Zamboanga today may rebook their flights for travel within 30 days from original departure date with no penalties, or opt for full travel fund or full refund. CEB passengers may call (02) 7020-888 or (032) 230-8888 within the day for their preferred option. We will provide other updates as soon as they are available. September 11, 2013 AS OF 9:40 AM PAL flights to Zamboanga remain cancelled for today, September 11 and tomorrow, September 12 after the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) extended the closure of Zamboanga airport due to ongoing insurgent activities in the city. Cancelled are 20 flights from Zamboanga going to Manila, Cebu, Tawi-Tawi, Jolo and Davao. These include: · All Manila-Zamboanga-Manila flights for Sept. 11 & 12 · All flights operating in and out of Zamboanga for Sept. 11, namely: o Cebu-Zamboanga-Cebu o Zamboanga-Tawi-Tawi-Zamboanga o Zamboanga-Jolo-Zamboanga o Zamboanga-Davao-Zamboanga Affected passengers are advised not to proceed to the airport; instead call PAL/PAL Express Reservations hotlines: (02) 855-8888 or (02) 855-9000 or proceed to any PAL or PAL Express ticket office for rebooking or refund assistance. Rebooking penalties will be waived. PAL has cancelled a total of 33 flights to/from Zamboanga since Sept. 9, affecting more than 2,500 passengers.
