AN ESTATE SALE FIND. Last year, I happened to go to an estate sale in west Billings and purchased an album full of old cards....most are business location cards. I was one of the first people to go into the lower level of the home and found the album sitting by itself on a small table with a very low price sticker on the cover. After briefly glancing through the album, I took it upstairs and told the ladies running the sale that it looked to me like the album was and should remain a family heirloom and probably shouldnt be in the sale. They told me NO, the lady that owned the house and merchandise wanted everything sold and she wasnt bothered by the low price. There are 438 cards in the album and Im almost ashamed to say what I paid for it. Ill just say, that it amounted to about 4 cents a card. I believe that the majority of the cards are from the early 1880s since I found a few that were dated. One black & white card that I have included with these images has 1876 written in pencil beneath it. The cards that have communities printed on them are from Rhode Island, New York and Minneapolis, MN. I still feel they should have stayed in that family if there was any family left. Now, they will become Leppart family heirlooms. I have never seen a collection like this before.
