AN INHERITANCE(Greek: kleros) RESERVED(Greek: tereo) FOR US What an awesome truth of the word of hope for the believer. In 1 Peter 1:4, the apostle Peter said, eis kleronomian aphtharton kai hamianton kai amaranton, teteremenen en ouranois eis humas That is, to obtain an inheritance which is imperishable and undefiled and will not fade away, reserved in heaven for you. We have an inheritance with the Father. I so much love the words the apostle Peter used to describe this our inheritance. In the previous verse the apostle had made it cleared that the firm foundation of our sure hope is based on the solid rock of Christ resurrection from the dead. It is not based on anything else(for example, your offering, services in church, or what have you) but on the resurrection of our Redeemer ( the Christ). All other hope are sinking sand. 1 Thes.4:13 Christ resurrection(Greek: anastasis - coming back to life again after is death) is our greatest foundation of hope. The apostle Paul said, if Christ did not raised, then our faith is in vain and we are still in our sins. 1 Cor 15:17 But glory to God, death could not hold him; the grave could not keep him a second more. At the appointed time he arose, triumphing over death by death. Halleluyah! His resurrection is our hope of inheritance. In verse 19 of 1 Cor 15, the apostle paul said, if its only in this word we have hope in Christ, we are of men most miserable. We have hope here on this earth, and we know we have an inheritance in heaven also. Halleluyah! The implied version said we are born anew into this inheritance which is beyond the reach of change and decay. Wow! What an inheritance. Even change that is constant cant reach it. Hahahahahahah....... The New living translation called it a PRICELESS INHERITANCE. This perfect inheritance has been reserved for us since the resurrection of Christ(2000years ago). It must have spoiltoooooooo if it was reserved here on earth. But its in heaven. Halleluyah! Not just in heaven, but does not decay. Its not a tomato we preserved in the freezer that lost its taste. Hahahahahahahah..... The inheritance is not by our good works, but by grace. The greek word kleronomia is actually from two Greek words that show our qualification for this inheritance. Kleros which means lot and nemo which means distribute or give. So it simply means the inheritance by chance or luck. But we know we are not lucky but favoured and graced. The kleronomia is by grace. And we are the ones the lot falls on. Amen. This kleronomia is reserved for us. another version says, kept for us. Our inheritance can not be given to another. It is reserved(tereo) for us. The apostle peter used the greek word tereo as something held, kept, preserved for a specific purpose and at a suitable time. Born into this preserved inheritance.
