AN OPEN LETTER TO MR EPHRAIM SHAKESMASHABA. Dear Mr Mashaba. Greetings in the Name above all names. firstly, I would like to congratulate you for a job well done, for securing an Afcon spot with flying colours after so many years. Secondly, allow me to put blame on you for committing a terrible mistake. We, Mzansi soccer fanatics all know that Itumeleng Khune is a tried and tested goalkeeper, and hes not called Mzansi number 1 by fluke. Who can forget the 2013 Afcon on home soil during our last encounter against Morocco when Khune found himself more than twice one on one with the opposition striker, but performed wonders till we reached the last 8? Of course Khune hardly played any part this season at club level due to the injury he sustained some few months ago, but he was available for selection prior to your announcement, but guess what? You chose to let the nation down by omitting one of the best Goalkeepers to have ever don the Bafana jersey. Even a blind person could see that after the tragic passing of Senzo Meyiwa, we were exposed in the goalkeeping department, hence you played them all, is like you were experimenting. As much as I have a good respect for you as a human being and a coach, but truth be told, you dug your own grave. How on earth can you leave behind a goalkeeper with almost 70 Caps and select 3 goalkeepers with less than 15 caps combined? Thirdly, Is Bongani Ndulula better than Majoro and Erasmus? I remember the first interview you had after you took over from Gordon Igesund, you said, I will only select my players based on merit. So my question is, did Ndulula scored more goals than Majoro? Of course not. So what merit were you talking about? Please with do apology and respect, but the nation needs answers. Honestly speaking you failed the nation dismally because of your way of doing things. What point were you trying to prove? Believe you me, wherever Senzo Meyiwa is, hes dissapointed after he worked so hard during qualifiers. I know you learnt a strong lesson even though you may be reluctant to admit. Sacrifice experience at your own peril, but youll pay a huge price. . . Good Night South Africa!!!
