AN UPDATE AS PROMISED: Im very appreciative of the support CrocTalk has received regardless of some of the negative comments Ive received. CrocTalk has always been a facility of learning, understanding and education for all in a safe clean environment. I want to thank all who have donated or participated in our Adopt an Animal program. Our goal was $6400 and we have received to this point $1225. A facility like this requires a lot of time and dedication to rehabilitating these animals after being kept in terrible environments. Part of our great expense here is our thermostatically controlled water and air temperature, as they would experience in nature. Sadly these reptiles have never been in the wild and could not survive the experience. Laws prohibit putting an animal born in captivity to even be placed into the wild. Its illegal! This is for the safety of local residents to that environment and to themselves. Prior to Canadian laws one could purchase from pet stores and some people used to smuggle black market caimans or gators over the border from the states. All born in captivity. This has been a very difficult yet at the same time rewarding experience housing and educating the public about these wonderful mystic and prehistoric reptiles. The alternative to CrocTalks initiative is Death by Government. This is not and will never be an option here. These reptiles deserve a home of stability and good captive care the same way dog, cats, bunnies and guinea pigs and others we love and call pets deserve. The difference is these animals ARE NOT PETS and this in itself ups the anti and adds all kinds of distasteful comments from people who little to nothing about caring for these animals that dont have a voice. CrocTalk tries to be this voice for these animals and will continue the fight to create a wonderful permanent zoo that generations will enjoy for many many years, right here in Kelowna. Thank you again for those who have supported us and to those also who send their good wishes and prayers. Lets keep this dream alive and to reach our goal we still need to raise about $5200 FOR FORTIS. Until we do, our power Will Not be reconnected. I would though like to thank Fortis for their patience over the years and working with us to try to stay on top of our biggest expense here. We promise to do better. I understand their decision and well do our very best to stay on top of this account. We are also making choices of CUT BACKS to help control our use of the is expensive commodity. Alternately heating ponds, cutting back on a freezer and some other options to reduce our carbon footprint. Also our animals have been INSPECTED BY GOVERNMENT AUTHORITIES and CrocTalk has been given the A-OK in care during this little set back. Were not out of the woods yet but with your help we will be back in operation very soon with a whole new set of ambitions and acknowledgements. Again thank you. Together we can do what I cant do by myself! By the way for those who resent our vehicles...my Tacoma is over 4 years old and Brendas is 10 years old. Thank you to Kelowna Toyota for their support also. We keep them clean and presentable as we do the inside of CrocTalk as well. We can continue to donate through our website and PayPal link croctalk/adopt-an-animal.php or as some have supported email transfers, or credit card. My email is: croctalk@gmail and my cell is: 250-717-6060 Thank you again and remember that Crocs Need Love Too!
