AN al-Qaeda terrorist who masterminded an attack which could have killed up to 10,000 people is pleading with the European Court of Human Rights to have his conviction overturned. Abdulla Ahmed Ali, is currently serving a life sentence for leading the liquid bomb plot. Ali developed a home-made hydrogen peroxide bomb that could be disguised as a soft drink to fool airport security before being assembled on board aircraft. The discovery of his evil plot in 2006 led to rapid changes to the laws on carrying fluids on airplanes. The Sunday Telegraph has revealed that Ali is taking his case to the European Court of Human Rights to claim his human rights were infringed by publicity. The convicted terrorist claims he was denied a fair trial as the jury had been prejudiced by media coverage. He is currently serving a life sentence for the plot but is seeking a ruling from Strasbourg judges to quash his conviction. Justice Secretary Chris Grayling told The Sunday Telegraph the case was exactly the reason why urgent reforms were needed to human rights laws as Strasbourg becomes increasingly willing to interfere in Britains justice system.
