ANALYSIS OF THE GUNJUR SUMMER FOOTBALL (NAWETTAN). BY FAMARA BADJIE and PRINCE EMMA. Football is a game of two side win and loose. victory is sweet but defeat is hard to accept, that will be the case as 16 teams contend in this years Gunjur nawettan. A number of recommended teams will be missing. Man United the 2010 knock out champions, suspended Nyokoyorr F.C 2012\13 knock out champions, while another knock out winners Lanuja F.C failed along the line with New Town F.C, submitting their positions to debutant Halifax F.C and England F.C. Kundemboo F.C (formally Aselem) made grounds for missing last years tournament, by finishing on top of their group in the qualifiers. Solifo F.C the only team with a high nawettan pedigree in the qualifiers, put the memories of their last years relegation behind as they reclaimed their position in the nawettan proper. FACTS: five former trophy winners will be appearing at this years August competition, including the defending league champions Steve Biko and the knock out champions Alex Sanchaba F.C. other winners includes World xi F.C, Commit F.C, Solifo F.C and the mighty Gamcel F.C. Three former trophy winners (Man United, Lanuja F.C and Nyokoyorr F.C) will also be missing. While two relegated clubs last season (Kayonkalon F.C and Kulukoch united) failed to take part. As 16 teams vying for football biggest prize in Gunjur nawettan, the question is, WHO WILL LAY HIS HAND ON THE HONOUR? We take a look at all the participating teams, their possible title chances and the players they will be calling to make things happen. TEAM BY TEAM ANALYSIS. STEVE BIKO F.C: the defending league champions. there are little denying that steve biko has assemble the best squad in their club history last season. having played 6 games in the league last season without a defeat, may well give them the impression that they can repeat the feat. But knowing the high level of expectations and missing some players like (Yusupha Manka, Musa Jallow and Mbemba Manneh) who were all vital in their last years success, that will be a concern for coach Ousman Sanneh. But with a well balance squad that include the likes of Alieu Joof, Alagie Sarr, Dodou Sambou, Buba Sanneh and Ousman Darbo. Coach Sanneh can count on any of the above mentioned players. the question is can any team stop Steve Biko. GAMCEL F.C: there is no doubt that they hold the crown of the most successful club in Gunjur currently, with 9 trophies to their names. The mighty Gamcel will not rest in their laurels and will emerge in a more determined mood this year to make sure the chant for the decima (the tenth) trophy by their fans turned into reality. With the addition of arguably the most outstanding young midfielder Arafang Jobe (Babel) to their sqaad, there is no improbability that Gamcel are among the legitimate title contenders. players like the prolific striker Yusupha Barrow, Arafang Jobe and Salifu Bojang can make their fans happy.
