ANANTNAG – A 14-year-old boy has been arrested on charges of murdering his teenager cousin while the both had an altercation Mattan locality of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district. The accused has reportedly been shifted to a juvenile home in Srinagar. Giving details of the case, the district police authorities stated that police recovered dead body of a teenager Rouf Naikoo son of Shafi Nikoo resident of Nagam Kokernag on December 17 this year. The deceased was residing with his aunt at Matipore Mattan, a police spokesperson said in a statement. “During the investigation several suspects were thoroughly questioned and it surfaced that on the fateful day, in the afternoon the deceased had left his aunt’s house along with his cousin Baid Bashir son of Bashir Ahmad Paddar resident of Matipore”, he said. While playing the two had an altercation and Baid hit Rouf with a stone on head and he fell down on ground over another rock resulting in his on spot death. Sensing trouble Baid left the body in a nearby nursery and left the spot and returned home alone, he said, adding that Baid has been arrested and has been shifted to a juvenile home in Srinagar. Mattan police had registered a case FIR number 105/14 under section 302 and took up the investigation. After completing all medico-legal formalities, the body was handed over to his relatives for last rites. Special teams were formed to explore all possible angles of the murder, he said.
