Addressing the packed gathering, ANC KwaZulu-Natal chairperson and KwaZulu-Natal premier, Senzo Mchunu, openly declared the party’s intention to take over the district- currently governed by the coalition of the ANC and the NFP. The current government of the ANC has implemented almost all the plans outlined in the Freedom Charter. The bigger part of what is contained in the Charter is what we do today as the government”, said Mchunu. He also underlined the need for the ANC to achieve maximum unity, saying it was only the united ANC that could successfully completed phase of transition which if focused on integrating masses into mainstream of the economy.
