ANC MOURNS THE DEATH OF ITS STALWART COMRADE JABU SITHOLE The province of KwaZulu-Natal is mourning the passing away of ANC stalwart, community activist, academic and intellectual Jabu Sithole whose departure on Sunday morning has left a void in the ruling party’s leadership core. “The story of Comrade Sithole’s life was one of a series of triumphs against adversity. His struggle against disability and an overwhelming sense of justice defined both political involvement and career progression and made him excel in both,” said ANC Provincial Secretary, Sihle Zikalala. Comrade Sithole’s numerous academic achievements both in South Africa and overseas in the respected fields of Applied Mathematics and Physics made him a venerable role model – a role his modesty would not allow him to acknowledge. His community involvement alongside some of the most prominent ANC activists of his time made him a hero to his people in whose fond memories Comrade Sithole’s achievements will continue to live on. Comrade Sithole also made a mark in the new South Africa upon his return from exile when he placed his acumen at the disposal of the National Intelligence Agency’s Training Academy in Mafikeng and later the South African Revenue Service. “As we mourn Comrade Sithole’s passing, we also rejoice with pride in the many extraordinary achievements we as his compatriots witnessed throughout his illustrious career always drawing on the rich variety of his talents,” Zikalala said. The memorial service will take place at the Durban City Hall tomorrow, 31 July 2014 and it will start at 4:30pm. Cde Sithole will be laid to rest on the 2nd of August at the Chesterville Cemetery and the funeral service will take place at Lamontville Community Hall at 10am. May Comrade Jabu Sithole rest in peace! Issued by the ANC provincial Secretary
