ANDY LITTLE has been called into Northern Ireland’s squad as he looks for his first appearance for his country in more than a year. The Rangers forward last turned out for the Ulstermen 13 months ago in a 2-0 defeat to Russia in Moscow. And after initially being put on standby for the forthcoming games with Azerbaijan and Israel, the 24-year-old has been drafted into Michael O’Neill’s group. He received a phone call on Saturday night asking him to travel to Belfast after yesterday’s 2-0 win at Ayr United. Little comes in as a replacement for Aberdeen’s Josh Magennis, who has withdrawn because of a knee injury. The Light Blues striker joins former Ibrox players Roy Carroll and Steven Davis in a 22-man pool. Little currently has eight caps having made his defeat in a 3-2 victory against Poland at Windsor Park in March 2009. And he seeks a ninth in good form, having scored six times so far this season including five goals in League One. Little is one of four players who will be away from Murray Park on duty over the next few days, with Dean Shiels also still placed on standby by O’Neill. Lee Wallace will meet up with Scotland this week for their match with Croatia at Hampden Park next Tuesday night. Lewis Macleod is in the Scottish under-21 squad for their meetings with Slovakia in Paisley this Thursday and Georgia in Tbilisi a week today. And Arnold Peralta will meet up with Honduras for their World Cup qualifiers with Costa Rica and Jamaica, which could see his side qualify for the finals in Brazil.
