ANNIES PUPPY UPDATE. Let me say this gently if I can. You are seeing photos of Annies only remaining puppy, the firstborn male. He appears to be healthy and strong and doing well, as he has since he was born. He is the sole survivor. Annie let us know this afternoon that her other little lass was in trouble. She was whining, pushing her around the whelping box with her nose, and picking her up in her mouth and bringing her out of the box while whining. It was not a good sign. She appeared to be eating well and we could not see anything visibly wrong with her. But by dinnertime she had passed. I would have been shocked, were it not for Annies behavior, which was exactly as it had been with the other pup that I was hand-feeding. I am grateful for this special lad, the lone survivor. Somebody is going to get a real gem when they get him. Annie is an excellent mama. She is doing well, and attentive to her lad. If I thought I could have gotten away with it, I wouldnt even have posted this. There has just been such a continual day-after-day barrage of sad news coming from here. But so many have been asking how the two pups are doing, it just had to be known. I hope this will be the last of the bad news for awhile (forever would actually be nice). Dont feel the need to offer condolences, folks. I know you care, and I know many of you are concerned for Bev & I. We have been overwhelmed by the kindness and encouragement and help we have received over the last 9 days. But I really dont want to be a continually dripping faucet of sadness. I really dont.
