ANNOUNCEMENT!!! BIG NEWS!!! PLEASE READ and SHARE!! The NWMGS has begun a project to capture the information for every soldier from the northwest Missouri area that served during World War II. The inspiration for this project began a few years ago, and has been germinating since then. It is time to bring it to life! The News-Press published a list of all the servicemen (and women) who were serving from this area in January of 1944. Starting from that list, we are going to try and find basic information about each soldier. We know not every soldier is listed - as the war was far from over when the list was published. But it is the starting place! While we are good researchers at the library, finding 10,000+ men is a huge task, so we are asking the community to help us. Please take a look at the list, and if you find a family member and can tell us more about him/her, we would greatly appreciate it. Is your northwest Missouri World War II veteran not on the list? Let us know! Well be happy to add him/her. The end goal is to print a book (in late 2015) and also to share the information via our website for future generations. Do you have a way of helping us spread the word? A business, church, club or organization that would be willing to help let others know about the project? We have a flyer that we would love to get out to as many locations as possible.
