ANNOUNCEMENTS Tuesday, September 10, 2013, Schedule SSR Learning Lunch: The guidance department would like to extend an invitation to students to attend our first Learning Lunch offered on Wednesday, September 11 during 5th, 6th or 7th period in the guidance conference room. Our first guest speaker is award-winning sports photographer Andrew Weber whose work has been featured on the cover of major publications such as Sports Illustrated, USA Today, and ESPN Magazine. Andrew will be here to share information about his career in print media and details of how he was able to break into the highly competitive business of professional photography. In addition, he will display many of his photographs and will be able to tell the “back story” of some of his famous subjects – including Urban Meyer and Lebron James. IF you are interested in learning about sports photography, the creative process, and how to start your own business, sign up in the guidance office to participate during your lunch period. We hope to see you next Wednesday. Principal’s Advisory Committee: Attention Students: The Principal’s Advisory Committee will be meeting monthly again this school year. This group gathers to discuss current issues in our school community, and serves as a sounding board for new ideas. If you have previously served on this committee, you are invited to join us again this year during you lunch period in the PAC Lobby. 9th Graders, new students, and anyone else who would like to join our group are all welcome. Any student interested in serving on the committee this year, whether you are returning from last year, or joining us for the first time, is invited to come to the Main Office sometime this week to obtain information for our first meeting, which is coming up soon. Speech and Debate Season is upon us. Come to our information meetings on Tuesday and Wednesday, September 10th & 11th, after school in F4, see you there! DigiCats Video Have you always wanted to be YouTube famous? Do you want to act in, write, tape or edit videos? Then DigiCats video production club is for you. We are going to have our first meeting next Thursday, September 12 right after school in room E22. Be there! Please bring video ideas, scripts, and friends! Asian Culture: Are you interested in Asina cultures and learning Chinese? Then come to the first meeting of the Chinese Language and Asian Culture Club this Firday, September 13th! We will meet in Senor Word’s classroom (F8)after school. We will start learning Chinese and talk about plans for the rest of the year. Attention Class of 2014: Anyone interested in being part of Cat’s Meow should plan on attending a meeting on Tuesday, September 10th after school in room A3. Please see Ms. Mattimoe with any questions. College Rep Visit: Monday, September 16th, Eastern Michigan University will visit. Thursday, September 19th representatives from both Cleveland University and Wittenberg will visit. Please come to Guidance to sign up! Scholarship News: There are 3 scholarships in the Guidance Office with deadlines ranging from September 30th, to October 31st. Come check them out! Job Opportunities: Magic Wok, at the Central Av. and Monroe St. locations are looking for part-time team members. Job responsibilities include customer service, cashier and food preparation. 10-30 hours a week. Wage to be determined depending on experience.
