ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING OF ST. PETERS COLLEGE OLD BOYS UNION St. Peters College Old Boys Union held its Annual General Meeting on Sunday, 29th June 2014. The days proceedings commenced with Holy Mass concelebrated by no less than 7 priests including the Rector, Fr. Trevor Martin and 2 Old Boy Priests. The Rectors breakfast was enjoyed by all present which preceded the AGM. At the AGM, Fr. Rector in his address stressed the importance of education, discipline and the inculcation of values at St. Peters. He said that he has launched 2 projects already with improving of education and values in mind. With the establishment of an exam culture at College and introduction of a value based culture, he said that he had no doubt that St. Peters will be the number one school in Sri Lanka. He emphasised the need for encouraging students to perform at their best be it in studies, sports, co-curricular or extra-curricular activities and for the teachers to be innovative in the imparting of knowledge. He concluded by thanking the OBU for the support extended to him and while thanking the out-going President and committee, he wished the President to be elected and the new committee Gods blessings. The out-going President, Dr. Nicholas Jayasekera having presented the achievements of his Committee during the year 2013/14, thanked the Committee and wished the new President to be elected all the best. Before the conclusion of the meeting, the newly elected President, Mr. Romeish de Mel thanked the out-going President Dr. Nicholas Jayasekera for the tremendous amount of work done and pledged to continue the good work. He also said that he would do everything possible to assist Fr. Rector to achieve the laudable objectives that he has already set for St. Peters.
