ANNUAL RAMADAN PRESENTATIONS (1435 AH/2014 CE) DAY 1 [Yaomus Sabt, 1st Ramadan, 1435 AH; Saturday, 28th June, 2014 CE] Topic: Why Ramadan? Discussant: Majeedah Majeedah Ashimi Idris The month of ease! The month of peace! The month of tranquility! Indeed the month of blessing! Truly the month of mercy! We welcome you in our midst! Innal-hamda lillaah, nahmaduhu wa nasta’eenuhu wa nastaghfiruh, wana’oodhu billaahi min shuroori anfusinaa wa min sayyi-aati a’maalinaa, man yahdihi-llaahu fa laa mudilla lah, wa man yudlilhu fa laa haadiya lah,wa ash-hadu an laa ilaaha ilallaah, wahdahu laa shareeka lah, wa ash-haduanna muhammadan ‘abduhu wa rasooluh. Truly all praise is due to Allah; we praise Him, seek His help, and askHis forgiveness. We seek refuge in Allah from the evils of our ownselves and our bad actions. Whomsoever Allah guides, none can turn him astray. And whomsoever Allah turns astray has none to guide him. I bear witness that there is nothing worthy of worship except Allah, the Only One without any partner. And I bear witness that Muhammad isHis servant and (final) messenger. Our Nabbiyy sallallahu alayhin wasallam used to supplicate to Allaah Taala ... At the arrival of the months of Rajab and Sha’baan, Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w) used to say Allahumma Barik Lana Fi Rajab Wa Shabaan Wa Ballighna Ramadan. Oh Allah Give Us The Blessings Of The Month Of Rajab And Sha’baan And Allow Us To Reach Ramadan. We were all so fortunate to be among those who witness the beginning of the great month of Ramadhaan .... Allaah have explained to us as a true believers the purpose of our existence when he said in the Glorious Quraan l have not created men and Jinn except that to worship, remember and to obey Allaah... Truly in the creation of heaven and Earth are signs for the believers; In suratul Rahman we read about the stars and the trees both prostrate themselves to Allaah Taala. ...Imagine we human who have made a covenant to our Rabb....when we said Bala sheidnah... (we have bear witness ) to worship none but him, to obey and follows his orders..... It is appropriate that every Muslim should receive the blessed month of Ramadan with repentance, sincerity, resoluteness and earnestness. He/she should make the intention to perform extra acts of devotion and worship therein, including the Night Prayer (qiyam), recitation of Quran, and abundant charity to the poor and needy. This is the month where-in we should have a total detachment from duniyah, and indeed peaceful pure heart...its truly the month of shukroh, Sabr and Tawbah.... A Muslim does thing according to intention, according to the commandment of Allaah and his nabbiyy sallallahu alayhin wasallam. ....The mission and purpose why the prophet was sent to us is to purify us by taking us from darkness to light; from falsehood to truthfulness. ... Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning): He it is Who sent among the unlettered ones a Messenger from among themselves, reciting to them His Verses, purifying them (from the filth of disbelief and polytheism), and teaching them the Book and al-Hikmah (al-Sunnah). And verily, they had been before in manifest error. [al-Jumu’ah 62:2] In the light of that it is established why Ramadan come to existence as mentioned in suratul Baqarah vers 183 .....O you who believe! Fasting is prescribed for you, as it was prescribed for those before you, so that you may guard (against evil). In this month the Gate of Paradise are opened and the gate of hell are closed and shaitain are chained. (hadith) As believers Ramadan is meant for us to purify our souls; from sadness to light ..From this temporary duniyah while turning away from evil, confusion and setting our mind to be more submissive, obedience and uplifting ...we should constantly be awared as to why we are fasting ..... This is the month that take away fear; Agitation; stress and sadness. ...The month of sincere tawbah, while reclaiming your heart towards refraining from arrogancy; hatred, enmity and not allowing your evil heart desires to be your own very master...... One thing to remember is the story of Prophet Adam allayhin salaam who fall and repent to Allaah Taala when he was made to leave Paradise ....This is indeed an opportunity for me and you to turn to Allaah Taala in sincere repentance. ..the need to reflect, to be mote obedient and change from bad to good..... Tawbah was said to have three ingredients. ...Reflect; Action and to Put it right. ...This is indeed the spirit of humility with wish we should enter Ramadan...we should experience Tawbah ..transforming our lifes.. The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) says, Ramadan has come to you. (It is) a month of blessing, in which Allah covers you with blessing, for He sends down Mercy, decreases sins and answers prayers. In it, Allah looks at your competition (in good deeds), and boasts about you to His angels. So show Allah goodness from yourselves, for the unfortunate one is he who is deprived in (this month) of the mercy of Allah, the Mighty, the Exalted. [Narrated by Tabarani) Need to know if we walk calling upon our Rabb he will run towards us....Also important to emulate the attributes of Allaah for he is Ar-Rahmaan having reliance in Allaah is paramount to good ending ...Allahs compassion on perfect unity and he will take away from us sadness and regret and make light our way for our humility and obedience... Ramadan is the month of Qur’an, the month of tawbah, month of seclusion in the last 10days, month of forgiveness, month of standing in voluntary prayers qiyam al laly, month of increase generosity and infact the month of compulsory fast....... This is our purpose in life if only we knew the reason of our existence. ...and l advice we only do not live to obey Allaah Taala in this month alone but rather in all other months of the lslamic Calendar. .... We ask that Allaah Taala help us to awake and remind us the temporary enjoyment of duniyah as supposed Akhirah.May he accept our fast, purify our heart and forgive all our sins both apparent and concealed. .... Subhanakha Allahuma wa bihamdika as hadu anlla ilaaha illa anta astaghfiruka wa tubu ileyhi. ......
