Actual memo from today ( I consult for one of the targets): Emerging Threat - Anonymous - Operation Remember (#OpRemember) EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: Anonymous, a politically motivated group of Hacktivists, is likely to launch a denial-of-service campaign against publicly accessible webservers, website defacement and/or data exploitation. The groups pre-operation for the campaign is underway, and is expected to culminate on or around the celebration of Guy Fawkes Day on November 5th, 2014. THREAT TECHNICAL DETAILS: There are limited details regarding the specific tools that will be used as part of this operation, but based on previous observations, the attacks will most likely leverage multiple attack vectors, including run-of-the-mill distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks, phishing/spear-phishing emails, intrusion and data-theft attempts, vulnerable software exploration, web application exploits, and possibly website defacement. Known Anonymous Hacktivist DoS/DDoS tools such as LOIC, HOIC, and Slowloris will likely be used. Denial of service attacks and other activities may be used as a diversion tactic for additional forms of attack, for example, web server intrusion or data theft attempts.
