ANOTHER GIFT, FROM ANOTHER FRIEND. Yesterday, I received - TopicsExpress

ANOTHER GIFT, FROM ANOTHER FRIEND. Yesterday, I received another letter from another dear friend -- this time it was sent to me through a private message in FB. It was a long, beautiful, poignant letter. It caught me flat footed because I havent seen this friend of mine in years! And what she wrote was even more of a surprise and a revelation to me...it reminded me, once again, how God uses ordinary people like us to make positive contributions in other peoples lives, simply because we are willing to be channels of His love, His Word, and His grace! The little helpful things that we say and do for others, HE multiplies and magnifies beyond what we can think or imagine. In a nutshell, my friend thanked me for our friendship and the many things she learned when we were having Bible studies together. She was very specific and detailed when she recounted what she learned, vis-a-vis the seasons in her life when Gods lessons came through. I was amazed by her sharp memory, and how she retained so many learnings from our Bible studies... The biggest surprise to me, however, was what actually triggered her to write me a letter! You see, her daughter recently graduated with honors, from a very prestigious university!!! And because of this huge blessing from God, my friend remembered to thank me for teaching her, many years ago, how and what to pray for her daughter, to protect her from the ravages of life -- they were facing a painful future then. But by Gods grace, today, they are floating, happily, on the ocean of Gods grace! Thank you, Lord, for seeing them through. Honestly, I do not even remember that I taught my friend how to pray for her daughter. I cannot even recall when I did that. But she backed it up with facts which I cannot dispute, and I just have to happily accept it as true! Isnt that so like God? He gives us the right things to say to help each other in our times of need...but sometimes we forget the helpful things we said or did. I guess one reason I often forget is because the wise and kind things I said didnt really come from me -- it came from Gods wellspring of wisdom and practical tips on how to go through life with dignity and grace. And we find all that in the Bible. We can never claim credit for whatever weve said or done to help someone -- because ALL good and perfect things come from God, and He prepared in advance all the good deeds we will do in our lifetime. My friends letter reminded me, once gain, that its truly an undeserved privilege and a bonus to be used by Him inspite of my flaws and depravities. My deepest thanks to my friend for going through the trouble of writing me such a beautiful and encouraging thank you letter, filled with many heartwarming details and memories. The letter wasnt perfunctory or obligatory at all. It came from deep within her heart. And yes, just like her, I will treasure our friendship for the rest of our lives -- here and in heaven, where we know we will see each other, in Gods perfect time.
