ANOTHER NEAR FATALITY CAUSED BY AQUACULTURE! A resident just spent a night in hospital, but had a very near miss. He was out in his boat in Hermitage Bay and struck a submerged rope unmarked, from one of Cookes cages, he alleges. He was travelling at a slow speed of about 10 or 12 mph, he suggests, when POW!!! and he went over windshield, was knocked out, but luckily woke up still on the deck! Scarily, the motor was still in gear but unmanned! With an injured head, ear, and back he was hospitalized over-night for observation due to the head injury. WE DOUBT Crooke will report the accident to Transport Canada. Like many locals, his boat goes over 30 miles an hour, and if he had been at full throttle - it could very easily have been fatal! We hope he can make a full recovery with time.
