ANSCU celebrates Coop Week PORT BLAIR, NOV 14/-/ All India Cooperative Week-2014 was celebrated by the Registrar of Cooperative Societies , NCUI Project and other cooperative institutions in the premises of A&N State Cooperative Union on 14th November, 2014. Mr. Anand Prakash, Chief Secretary, A&N Administration was the chief guest on this occasion. The main theme of this year’s celebration is “Cooperative Model for sustainable and inclusive growth.” In his address, the Chief Secretary has recorded his happiness to see a large number of participants and appreciated the efforts of Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma to spread awareness on cooperative movement in these islands. He advised the Chairman, Cooperative Societies and his team to help take the movement to an even great height. Everybody wants a govt job which is not possible and therefore the youths would do well to form cooperative societies and self help groups to start income generating ventures, he said. He expressed the hope that all like-minded people will join hands with Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma in his bid to spread the cooperative movement far and wide and make it an even greater success. Apart from giving away prizes to the winner of various competitions organized by the ANSCU, the Chief Secretary also distributed certificates to 106 pass outs of various training courses of Tailoring & Fashion designing, Computer and Beautician courses and 15- day awareness programme of computer course. Earlier, Mr Kuldeep Rai Sharma, the Chairman, Cooperative Union in his welcome address briefed about the importance of cooperative movement, cooperative societies and self help groups. Besides motivating the public about cooperative movement, the Union is also giving training to unemployed youths in tailoring and fashion designing, computer training and beautician courses throughout the islands so that these youths may opt for making coop societies and self help groups and become financially and socially stable. After opening of Rajiv Gandhi Cooperative College, the movement has gained more momentum, he said. Among others, Mr. S Suresh Babu, Principal of Rajiv Gandhi College also spoke on professional/skill development and empowerment of women, youth and weaker sections which was the theme for the day. Mr. Anant Rao, General Secretary of the Union proposed the vote of thanks.
