ANSF to Sacrifice their Lives to Ensure Citizens Safety After the assuming the 100 percent security responsibility of the entire country as the foreign forces formally ended their combat mission in Afghanistan, the Afghan National Security Force (ANSF) forces now assure the citizens to fight for their safety until the last drop of their blood. Since the beginning of security transition process from NATO to ANSF troops which started in 2011 and completed in several stages by the end of 2014, the Afghan forces have been leading all the anti-insurgent operations and fighting in the front line against the armed militants including the Taliban. Taking part in more than 200 anti-insurgent operations, an ANSF officer Fawad Jami from western Herat province noted that the Taliban had not the ability to fight face to face against the Afghan forces. Today we are defending our country independently, Jami said. I promise to my people that I will keep fighting for my country until my last drop of blood. Serving for the police for the last 12 years, Jami got a special promotion from the interior ministry after he nabbed a suicide bomber with empty hands. Also in the Taliban attack on U.S. consulate of Herat, Jami was the only soldier who entered the consulate building alone and gunned down both the suicide bombers. At the meantime, the Afghan forces in the eastern zone also welcomed takeover of complete control of security responsibilities, believing the national troops are able to independently ensure countrys security. We ready to defend our soil at any situation, said Naqibullah, an Army officer in eastern Afghanistan. This is our homeland and has many obligations on us. The eastern zone is divided into seven provinces consisting 70 districts with most of them unsafe; however the security forces believe they have the capability to thwart insurgent attacks. Appreciating the ANSF sacrifices during the past 13 years, President Ashraf Ghani congratulated the entire nation on successful completion of security transition in a ceremony on Thursday, Jan. 1, 2015, marking the countrys historical day as the NATO announced beginning of a new chapter of cooperation under the name of Resolute Support replacing the 13-year combat mission. Ghani called on the citizens, especially the religious leaders to support the security forces and also stand by the gains made over the past decade, especially womens gains.
