APC 2015 Presidential Ticket; My Personal Perspectives We woke - TopicsExpress

APC 2015 Presidential Ticket; My Personal Perspectives We woke up this morning to the confirmation of what is blindingly obvious; that Mr Olusegun Mimiko has formally gone back to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Of course the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, taking a cue from common sense and what is fair and just, allows freedom to associate, disassociate and re-associate at will but the enjoyment of this Constitutional and moral rights should not preclude others from exercising the right to put its house in order and take steps at fire prevention as opposed to fire fighting. We have individuals that have crossed the political carpet and has since made and being making tremendous contributions to the Party. A good reference case is that of Late Chief Bola Ige who was a loyal Zikist before becoming an Action Group loyalist. However one cannot fail to mention the likes of Chief Thompson Ikimi, who came from PDP into All Peoples Congress (APC) and is now back to his former allies. I shrink when I imagine the Newspaper headlines, Radio and all TV channels screaming unrelentlessly and for weeks: APC Chairman decamps to PDP, had Ikimi being made our Chairman. Yes, the overriding principle must be freedom and the strength of the majority in number but must we always be blinded by this doctrine to the detriment of the institutions they were coined to safeguard? Can just any member of the Labour Party of Conservative become a British Prime Minister without being rigorously tested and ensuring such decision does not come back to hunt or bite. It is this line of thought that propels me to suggest those who are SERIAL CARPET CROSSERS, zigzagging forward and backward, impatiently refusing to submit to the will of the Lord that maketh and crowneth Kings, should be made to undergo a period of not less than 10-years self-image redeeming active service in the party before being conferred with the serious position of our party’s Presidential Candidate. This is more so, that we are still smarting from the ashes of our former Presidential candidate ridiculing himself and the party by his inordinate Governorship ambition in Adamawa State. As a parting shot and this is due primarily to my ‘shallow’ knowledge of our cultural/traditional heritage; What is the position of a wife who leaves her matrimonial home for a supposed greener pasture with another man only to retrace her steps belatedly while the husband had married another wife? A beggi, who occupied the African exalted position of the first wife – Is it the returnee wife or the one married while the man’s home was free of any wifely encumbrances? Genuinely seeking to be educated.
