APC BOT / NEC meets today on Adamawa election........ The All Progressives Congress (APC) has appointed a former Head of State, Major- General Muhammadu Buhari (rtd), former Vice-President, Atiku Abubakar and former Lagos State Governor, Senator Bola Tinubu into its Board of Trustees (BoT). Other top party leaders who made the over 74 membership of the BoT are: former Abia State Governor, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu, Bisi Akande, Audu Ogbeh, Chief Tom Ikimi, Alhaji Gambo Magaji, Tony Momoh, Kawo Baraje, Timipre Silva, and Aminu Bello Masari. All the governor’s and former governors are automatic members of the BoT while the minority leaders of the two chambers of the National Assembly, Senator George Akume and Hon. Femi Gbajamila also made the list. The party also plans to hold its first National Executive Committee (NEC) today. THISDAY gathered that the BoT members held an inaugural meeting at the national secretariat of the party yesterday and decided to meet again next week to elect key officers of the board. Under the APC constitution, the role of BoT is advisory and intervening over critical issues. The BoT is also expected to play key role in deciding the direction of things as far as the emergence of the party’s presidential flag-bearer in the 2015 election is concerned. According to a source at the meeting, the leaders discussed among other issues, the NEC meeting today. The NEC meeting which is the first since the emergence of the new leadership headed by Chief John Odgie Oyegun, hopes to among other actions, ratify the list of BoT as well as modalities for the selection the party’s candidate in the October 11 governorship by-election in Adamawa State. It was learnt that the BoT members also discussed the issue of impeachment noose still hanging on the neck of the governor of Nasarawa State and the role allegedly being played by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) top leaders in the whole saga. While appraising the performance of the party in the last governorship election in Osun State, the leaders used the opportunity of the meeting to canvass opinion on critical national issues, especially the deployment of military during elections, a source close to the party said.
