APC CHIEFTAIN FROWNS AT POLICE IMPUNITY SAYS PARTY COMING TO SERVE NIGERIA The National Vice-Chairman, APC South South, Prince Hilliard Eta, has condemned the premeditated attack on the country’s number for citizen, Speaker Aminu Tambuwal at the National Assembly Complex yesterday. Speaking with newsmen in Calabar, the Cross River State capital, Eta described the act as ‘atrocious’, and took a swipe at the Nigeria Police for allowing itself to be manipulated by the flustered executive and for its increasingly biased interference in the political affairs of the nation. “The awful scenario that played out at the National Assembly yesterday is shameful. It serves to further drag the already battered image of our country in the mud and it is equally distressing to see the executive stoop so low in its arbitrary quest to hang on to power at all costs.” “If the executive and all those in the corridors of power truly love this country and the people, military and Para-military agents will not be deployed to harass anyone but would have been directed to fully engage insurgents who are daily killing and maiming our brothers and sisters in the three North Eastern states of Adamawa, Yobe and Borno,” he added. Still addressing the journalists, the APC top-shot also said that that the party was coming to serve Nigeria and lift her people from the poverty, degradation and drudgery they have been reduced to in the last 16 years by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). In his words, “APC has come to serve this country and salvage it from the rubbles; and to plough, not to plunder. The party has demonstrated explicitly that it is prepared to perform creditably once elected to office as evidenced in the development index of all the APC controlled states.” According to him; “APC will not reduce Nigeria to a police state as the ruling party is doing presently. As a person, I would not hold brief for the party if it has shown that it lacks in any way the capacity to move Nigeria forward. Therefore; I call on well meaning men and women, not just in the South South, but in the entire country to come all out to support the movement for change.”
