APC GOVERNMENT AND THE IGBOS; In Imo State upon his inauguration as Imo State Governor, Owelle Rochas Anayo Ethelbert Okorocha sacked the executives of the Imo State council of traditional rulers and thereafter appointed his own men to oversee the affairs of Ndi Eze Imo. This angered the elected Chairman of Imo council of Ndi Eze, Eze Ilomuanya C. I and he went to court to reclaim his mandate given to him in accordance with their constitution by Ndi Eze Imo . The court few week ago, reinstated Eze Ilomuanya as Chairman of Imo State Council of Traditional Rulers. Eze Ilomuanya thereafter summoned a meeting of Ndi Eze Imo at the State secretariat of the group but Imo State government led by Owelle Okorocha barricaded Ilomuanya out and locked the secretariat. Till now, the APC government of Owelle Okorocha has not yet complied with the court directives on the reinstatement of Eze Ilomuanya, thereby making a number of well meaning persons to wonder if the APC government in Imo is above the laws of the land orr even have any respect for the cultural cum traditional institutions of the land the govern. In Anambra, APC gubernatorial candidate in the forthcoming November elections, Dr Senator Chris Ngige, on the kick off of his governorship elections campaigns threw respect and decorum to the winds by belittling and rubbishing the cultural institution of the Onitsha people by holding the campaign kick off same day the Obi of Onitsha was holding his Ofala. This is what no Yoruba or Hausa governor cannot ever contemplate - not attending a cultural festival being held by the Oba/Sultan, yet Dr. Ngige says he is an Igbo man that wants to govern an Igbo State. Thus even before the elections, Ngige seem to show so much disrespect and regard for the cultural institution of the people he wants to lead. This has also mead some good thinking people to ask if APC is out to rubbish the things the Igbos hold dear while others have described APC as Anti Peoples Culture. Is APC as a party, out to destroy the remaining tradition cum culture of the Igbos or are these giants of the party acting out their own scripts?. Questions! Questions!!.
