APC PRIMARIES AND NDI-IGBO The wave of election is already - TopicsExpress

APC PRIMARIES AND NDI-IGBO The wave of election is already blowing strong, having the primaries and the conventions of the leading political parties concluded. The PDP, the national ruling party only reduced the exercise to ratification of their unanimous decision of giving GEJ the nod to go for the second tenure. This is a loud statement of endorsement of the strides and gains of their deeds and performances in the last 3+ years of being in the office. A perusal of the manipulative scheme of GEJ and his co-travellers is eloquently demonstrated in the manner they have successfully handled all internal interests as to pave way for ratification only instead of open contest. All stakeholders have consented to the simple plan of who does what and who gets what, a subsisting equation. I must say that PDP has largely demonstrated maturity and understanding of the enormous battle awaiting them in the scheme of things. But the question now is, where is the position of Ndi-Igbo? Are we co-travellers with GEJ or do we have any alternative platform? Does the APC structure favour us better? Where do we have a say, without element of bias? APC has conducted their convention and picked GMB, a great grand father, and have gone ahead to pick his running mate as Dr. Kayode Fayemi, from the South Western zone, a vibrant young man. In this equation, what does it portend for Ndi-Igbo? Can we say that we have a stake in APC led government, with strategic recognition of the North and the South-West? Why could they not deem it necessary to pick anyone from the south-East? Does change mean freezing a people out and only dangling empty carrot to them, when they express that they are hungry and short-changed? For me, as OBJ was a colossus from the South West, having a Northerner as his VP, the balance should now be (from APC shift) a minimum of Northern President and South Eastern VP. But as GEJ is of Eastern Nigeria (precisely South-South), no harm a Northern VP, as it presently is, we are home and dry with the feel of powers better than the alternative. The proximity we enjoy now to the corridors of power will further be diminished when we have a strategic barrier. I hereby call for your comments on the equation presented by APC in the Presidential race and the interest of Ndi-igbo. Right now, we are not analysing based on performance score card, which is left to individual perceptions, but based on allocation of positions and strategic consideration of our people. What and which favours the Igbo Gburu Gburu better?
