APC SHOULD WIND UP IN EKITI -Accord Accord in Ekiti State has advised the APC government in the state to wind up and prepare to hand over governance in October instead of chunning out belated new policies and also crying when the head is already off. In a press statement signed and released in Ado-Ekiti by Mr Fred Iyaniwura on behalf of the Governorship Candidate, Barrister Kole Ajayi, the scientist turned lawyer revealed that the defeat of Fayemi should no longer be an issue as he spent 90% of his tenure as governor fighting and logging heads with the important sectors of the electorate and to worsen it all,he was coming out with anti people policies and at the same time embarking on irrelevant projects that dont have any economic value on an average Ekiti man Ajayi further stated that all these and others were clear manifestations of poor governance which led to Fayemis defeat at the recent polls. Ajayi who is also the National Coordinator of Ekiti Koya Group that raised an early alarm on Fayemis ill governance also affirmed that voting pattern in Ekiti in the recent polls was a vote to push Fayemi out at all cost, saying that at the initial stage of Fayemis government, the governor delegated his duties to mediocres who were in total charge of governance and to cap it all, there was intimidation and molestation of the opposition of which he was a victim. Also of note was his wrestling with the teachers and local government workers who are important sectors of the Ekiti electorates, while the former were faced with demotivations and intimidation, the latter raised several alarms on illegal deduction of their allocations and non payment of their entitlements. Ajayi revealed that he was surprised when Fayemi started campaigning for second term which he never prepared ground for. According to him,non of Fayemis projects added any economic value to the Ekitis rather, they are to add values to individual pockets within and outside Ekiti State. He stated that projects like new Government House, Pavilion,Civic Centre and re-asphalting of already asphalted roads, just to mention a few are all economic wastes to Ekiti people. Reacting to Erelu Bisi Fayemis statement that election was rigged,Ajayi asked the wife of the governor what the husband did to warrant re election or what she did as the wife of the governor to warrant the renewal of their tenancy in the Ekiti Government House. Ajayi reminded Erelu Fayemi that throwing parties and bringing in PASUMA,OBESERE and others or serving cooked rice are not indices of good governance, adding that Ekiti people were watching the foolishness of the wise while the various shows were going on and according to him as a student of Ekiti political history, our people cannot be whitewashed with the last minute show of flamboyance, belated and artificial association with the masses. On the issue of stomach infrastructure, which APC is crying about,Ajayi said if anybody is to cry about distribution of food and money,it should be Accord and not APC. Ajayi said that Fayemi has been distributing money, food and other inducements six months to the election when Fayose had not even gotten a ticket, not to talk of campaigning, adding that Accord did virtually everything necessary in the course of electioneering campaign except monetary and material inducement. The issue according to him is like the pot calling the kettle black, saying that APC distributed more money than any other party but people used their money to vote against them. Xraying the election, Ajayi opined that the Ekiti election was majorly between APC and PDP according to him, narrowing the parties to two was a natural arrangement within the minds of the people and he said if it was not done that way,no party would have won in the first ballot. Ajayi said the whole essence was to push Fayemi out because Ekiti people are already tired and the same result would have been, had it been people narrowed down to APC and Accord or APC and Labour,he said. On the next line of action,Ajayi said he is not a stranger in Ekiti politics and that Accord is still watching development as it unfolds in the state and the country in general.
