APC: TINUBU CAMP WOOS BUHARI FOR VICE PRESIDENTIAL SLOT Category: Inside politics Published on Wednesday, 22 October 2014 05:00 Written by Femi Akinola, Lagos Hits: 439 The deal by the Bola Tinubu camp in the All Progressives Congress (APC) and that of General Muhammadu Buhari to work together on a joint ticket has reached an advanced stage, our correspondent has learnt. Investigations by our correspondent revealed that Tinubu’s camp is in support of the emergence of General Buhari as the party’s flag-bearer but has pencilled down some names based on religion, popularity, loyalty, labour support and character to pair with Buhari. Sources at Tinubu camp confided in Daily Trust that some people have been listed to run as vice presidential candidates on the APC platform by Tinubu since many have kicked-against a Muslim- Muslim ticket. Those on the list include the immediate past Ekiti State Governor, Kayode Fayemi, Governors Adams Oshiomole and Rotimi Amaechi, former Lagos attorney-general Prof. Yemi Osibajo, Senator Ajayi Borofice and Mr. Wale Edun, former finance commissioner in Lagos State. Others mentioned in the list are former governor of Ekiti State, Otunba Niyi Adebayo, as well as Governors Babatunde Fashola and Rochas Okorocha. An aide to Tinubu who pleaded for anonymity explained that some of the listed personalities, including the governors did not appeal to Tinubu because of what the source described as doubt over their loyalty to the APC leader. The consideration of Prof. Osibajo the source hinted, is based on uprightness and loyalty to Tinubu.
