APC ‘ll lose Oyo if wrong gov candidate emerges, group warns As the primary election of the All Progressives Congress (APC) draws nearer, a group, Adebayo Shittu Vanguard, has warned that should the party field a wrong person as its candidate for the 2015 governorship election, it would lose the state. The group, in a statement signed by Tajudeen Ajana and Ayanbisi Muritala, the coordinator and secretary respectively, in Ibadan at the weekend, urged the people to be very vigilant. According to the group, “It is incumbent on members of the APC to shine their eyes against making a wrong choice, shun attempts to buy their votes and conscience,” noting; “If such a mistake repeats itself, it may cause the party the opportunity to govern the state in 2015 and beyond.” At a pre-primary meeting of the vanguard from 10 local government areas of Olorunsogo, Oorelope, Irepo, Atisbo, Saki-East, Saki-West, Iseyin, Iwajowa, Itesiwaju and Kajola in Iseyin, one of the gubernatorial aspirants, Adebayo Shittu, was said to be the preferred choice of the people from Oke-Ogun zone. Justifying their choice of Shittu, the group described him as an embodiment of integrity, discipline, accountability, honesty, saying, “Shittu is one man that makes promises and honours them, which earned him the sobriquet, “The Bayo you can trust.” “Shittu, who at 26 became the youngest honourable member of the Oyo State House of Assembly between October, 1979 and September, 1983 with his wealth of experience and thorough understanding of the dynamics of Oyo State politics, is on a mission to rescue the state.
