APC senatorial aspirant demands primaries A Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress and senatorial aspirant in Ekiti State, Mr. Olusegun Osinkolu, has advocated for a free and fair primaries to select candidates for the 2015 general elections. Osinkolu, a retired banker also said that the six APC House of Assembly members that defected to the Peoples Democratic Party during the Governor Ayodele Fayose’s inauguration last Thursday would soon return to the party . Speaking while declaring for the senatorial seat in Ayede-Ekiti in Oye Local Government Area on Wednesday, the senatorial hopeful said all good intention APC members would resist automatic tickets. He promised to make youth empowerment and general well-being of the people his priority, if elected. Osinkolu maintained that the loss suffered by the party in the June 21 governorship election won’t affect its fortunes in the forthcoming general elections, describing the APC as a party to beat in the State, considering the landmark achievements recorded by ex-Governor Kayode Fayemi. He said: “Our quest is for a greater Ekiti and it is our hope that there will be transparency and the will of the people will always be allowed to prevail. But I advise INEC not to allow itself to be teleguided in 2015. It must respect the collective will of the masses. “The days when elective positions were meant for personal gains is over. Election is now based largely on who the people want and who can render service and stewardship. It is no longer about parties, but personalities involved. So the impression that the PDP is in control is a non-issue,” he declared. Osinkolu promised to attract federal presence if elected and do much of stomach infrastructure based on the reality on ground as regards high poverty index, youth unemployment and other social ills in the society. “I will operate an open door policy where all, regardless of party affiliations will have access to the senator unlike what is being experienced now,” he promised.
